test drove the new ranger friday

IMO a lot more bang per buck than a Bronco. Especially now that Bronco takeoff stuff fits so you can Sasquatch the front of your Ranger for like less than a grand with alignment.

Less then a grand?

I'd like to know how that works... does the truck come with the cast iron diff like is on every sasquatch?

But the bed is too short for camping in and the fuel economy is trash because it is a lot larger and has a lot of unnecessary weight it doesn't need.

Doubt it. Wouldn't be a full "Sasquatch"

Between a $52k Big Bend Sasquatch and a $42k XLT/FX4 Ranger with a little work I know which way I would swing. Heck a Ranger Raptor starts at $55k.

well..... if toyota had a reliable hybrid with 7200 watts on board like my new ford.....i would have a tundra right now.

but i know 3 people with blowed up brand new tundras.
My neighbor has a new Taco for his work truck. In 20k it's been in the shop twice. Rear diff went out within 2 weeks. Now the transmission is slipping. He's driving one of their old Colorados right now. Says out of the 40 new fleet trucks they bought 5 of them live in the shop. If I was gonna buy a Taco I'd wait a year or 2 to let them sort out the issues on the new platform

1) The rear seat is packed full, must be 500 lbs of stuff back there.

2) Torsen is not a locker, You are correct.....not enough coffee...again~ I should of known

I agree on your assessment of the bed for the Supercrew models. You'll want a roof top tent, ground tent, or a trailer. Even at 5' 9", the bed is too short for me to sleep in.

On the fuel economy, considering what it is, the fuel economy isn't bad. If the vehicle manufacturers could make a small truck that met the EPA standards, fuel economy would be better but apparently, they can't anymore, and thus why they went with a mid size truck. The bed wall height could certainly be less and save some weight but for whatever reason, Ford has stuck with the tall bed. Some weight could also be saved if they offered a regular cab and a Supercab as well. They insist there isn't enough market for either. So stopped offering them.

The only reason I have a Supercrew is because I needed to replace an SUV and needed the four doors. Unless you go full size, you can't get body on frame and 4X4 anymore. With the exception of the 4Runner at least, which is expensive and butt ugly.

Short deep beds and long cabs help aerodynamics.

Yup/\

I wish i could get a single cab with a manual still. Thats why still have my 04 ranger. Its ro hard to find that combo and it still be a clean truck.

The new Ranger is referred to as a "mid sized" truck where my old 2007 Ranger is a "mini" truck, so does that mean that the new one is larger inside, if so by how many inches? The salesman never offered to even open it up.

toyota
The 2024 Toyota Tacoma has the following interior dimensions:
  • Seating capacity: Five passengers
  • Head room: 39.7 in in the front and 38.4 in in the rear
  • Hip room: 56.8 in in the front and 56.3 in in the rear
  • Leg room: 41.8 in in the front and 33.7 in in the rear
  • Shoulder room: 58.3 in in the front and 57.8 in in the rear

2024 ranger

total passenger volume of 98.3 cubic feet. The front row offers 41 inches of headroom, 43.7 inches of maximum legroom, 57.1 inches of shoulder room, and 55.9 inches of hip room.

girly ranger ranger....you know...non glass headlight models.....the man rangers are a bit smaller. less comfort more work capacity. :woot:

Head Room39.2 inches39.2 inches39.2 inches
Leg Room42.4 inches42.4 inches42.4 inches
Shoulder Room55.6 inches55.6 inches55.6 inches
Hip Room55.0 inches55.0 inches55.0 inches
— Max Width At Floor54.3 inches54.3 inches54.3 inches

so front row seems the same...but it dont feel like it...the exterior is much larger.

the aerodynamics doesn't do shit for fuel economy because the weight increase and power blows it out the window.

i would rather have a diesel electric that gets 40 mpg....and a bed that is 8 inches lower and 2 foot longer.

I was kinda surprised by how much the 19+ Ranger really didn't feel that much bigger inside than my glass headlight truck.

Our Bronco has more room to stretch out under the dash and the seat goes back farther... but it has to be all the way back or my kneecap adjusts the cabin temp.

The 2019 Ranger is a bit bigger inside and isn't as cramped feeling. Part of it is because the truck is a bit wider and part of it is because the doors aren't a thick.

The dimensions of both trucks are close enough to each other that I don't notice much of a difference as far as turning radius and fitting into things like a garage or on an off road trail. Going from a regular cab, short bed Ranger to a new Ranger would have a much more pronounced difference. But from a Supercab to one, not really.

Getting around the 2019 In the garage is where the difference is really noticeable. I have to scoot sideways to get around the front or the back, depending on how I have the truck parked. I don't have to do that with the 2011.

yup. they are close.

the toyota, even with the current growing pains...are indeed excellent machines. but i still prefer the ranger interior.

i actually like the colorado best of the bunch in regards to interiors if we are just comparing 2024 models....especially the bison i got to ride around in. but that was high zoot....

i like the road feel of the ranger better. off road they are all really close. they will blow away anything from the first iterations.

it would be a hard choice between the jeep and the ranger for me.

seems superj fits in the toyota better.

any small regular cab is a no go. hell the full size regular cabs suck for me.

"hell the full size regular cabs suck for me". and their getting smaller too! I hate being moulded into my spot. Love the older generation of a pick up truck. Even with a bench seat.

My friend Frank, will want me to go with him to look at Rangers soon. For the $$ can't go wrong. The bang-for-buck. I believe he became interested in off roading last July in Colorado in the off-road Ferrari level 2.

the gladiator is stupid crazy priced for what you get. the gladiator comes in at 50,675 to be basically equal to the tacoma and ranger.
Bingo. Heeps have been overpriced for decades.
Gladiators look awkward and out of proportion to me unless they're lifted with bigger tires.
