Teaching stick

I learned how to drive stick first in a semi bobtailing. Foot slipped off the clutch and I managed to throw gravel about 200 feet behind me right onto a salesman, the general manager, and a couple of customers. Oops. I did what anyone would do in that situation, I yelled "Sorry!" out the window and tried to drive off, only to do it again. But the second round they knew to dive for cover. Hehe.

I still forget sometimes when I'm driving an automatic and my brain refuses to hit the brakes until I've pushed the clutch in. Nearly bumped into other trucks a few times looking for that damned invisible pedal.

i learned in a '74 F250 with the 300 I-6 and the creeper-1st 4 speed. i too have "forgot " i was in a auto and went for the invisible clutch only to catch the corner of the brake pedal and lock all 4 tires up. never thought i would like a automatic pickup until we got a '77 F250 to replace the '74. the '77 had a 400 V8, full-time 4wd,4.10's and we got a plow kit for it. i would never want to push snow with a std. the '77 has since been retired and its replacement is a '94 F250 with the 351,E4OD,3.55's got a plow on it too, not quite the workhorse the '77 was. not much better on fuel either.

haha I do that ALL the time. Or you go to start it and drop kick the floor board lol.

Seems like I'm just the opposite. I'm used to driving automatic, so the other day I'm driving the S10 at work (manual), and I try to start it up but forgot to push in the clutch first. Luckily it has one of those safety switches. It took me a second to realize why it wouldn't start. I guess they started putting those switches on there for dumbasses like me..:icon_twisted:
