Tax Time!

I'm in Canada (oh, obviously) and a few years ago I was in arrears on my taxes by about $1,400 due to a screwup by my bank with my RRSP...I called them up right away and told them I'd pay it down when I got my severance package and that they actually owed me $500 for an RRSP tax deduction that should not have been added...

I left it at that for a while...then I got a nasty letter from them saying they would start by taking my car and selling it, and anything left owning would be due immediately...and alluded to other things they would do to me if I didn't pay the balance...

Next thing I know they sent me a cheque for $500 due to another screwup at my bank with an RRSP...

I thought..."gee, for something that was supposed to be temporary, these people can get real serious...real quick"...

Gotcha.. I know all the details, and I plan on paying an extra amount from each check to offset the $500 a year. I would rather pay off debt than let the money go away.
Glad you do have all the info. I didn't want you to get a nasty surprise next tax season when you would have to start paying. I know a couple people who were like "free money!" when they heard about it.
