taurus fan install

i recently installed two e-fans on my 97 3.0 ( i have yet to post pics or know how for that matter) but works really well. i came up with my own way to mount the fans but along the same lines as the clip/pins thing, ill try and get pics up..

so i don't have a/c right now but wanna get it going here real soon. but now that i don't have the clutch and fan will the a/c work? can i get it to work?
can anyone give me an answer to this!

Make a photobucket account(it's free) and copy and paste the Img code in the reply box, simple huh:icon_thumby:

Use google chrome.. Makes screenshots easy

Really?

You know how your keyboard has a "PrtScrn" or, Print Screen button?
When you hit that, it copies your current screen to your clipboard, which you can then paste into a paint document, and Voila! You have a screenshot.

well then, i learned something new... :icon_rofl::yahoo::thefinger:

Not tryin to bust balls or anything but is that speaker wire to run the fan, might want to run something a little heavier in the wire gauge for that.

Yep, speaker wire :icon_surprised:. It's as thick as 10 gauge. It's what I had hanging around :D. And yes, I'm cheap....waste not, want not.

oh cool, thanks for the info on how to post pics! yea i was talking about the fan clutch. was not sure if that had anything to do with the a/c or not.

if this works ill post a crap ton more. im new to the prerunner game.

^^ i think you need to get rid of those marrettes, they are for wiring that doesn't move (like in a wall) not for applications that will bounce around... those will fall off and you'll find yourself shorting out like crazy

10ga speaker wire is more than thick enough to handle the draw of the fan... 12? ga speaker wire is virtually identical to "lamp cord" which you would get at the hardware store, and is the wire that you run from the wall socket, to the bulb on a floor or desk lamp, the difference being that speaker wire is fancy looking, and clear, and about 3 times the price

that being said, there IS a downside to speakerwire under the hood, it's UV and oil resistant, so the rubber will break down quite quickly, which is why they sell automotive grade wiring

other than that, looks decent... the problem with having the fans mounted directly to the rad like that, is they won't suck as much air as they could... that's why people use shrouds, it creates a vacuum behind the entire rad, and pulls air through the entire thing, not just the surface area that the fans cover... it's a way to effectively make the fans cover more surface area, and thus more surface area for coolant to cool down...

that being said, i doubt you will have too many issues, just watch your gauge closely through the summer months, to make sure you don't overheat... and if you've got one of those wonky stock ones, i would put an aftermarket in, just to be safe...

you're welcome!

I want to do that on my 97 with a 2.3 but I want to run it on a thermostat switch. Are you guys buying aftermarket fan switches or what?
