true Story about " Beggin' Strips " : New guy on the crew was a Cuban named Ruben, ( no lie ). His English wasn't the best, but the guy was an excellent worker and great guy to have on the crew. He could do many, many things due to being poor and growing up on a communist island. We had an out of town job to do so we stopped and a Truck stop/convenient store to get a snack. Watching Ruben come out of the store with a smile on his face with a bag full of different snacks. Stuff he had never seen before, so he was going to try it. We get a few miles down the road and all of a sudden he starts cussing in Spanish and spitting out the window. I ask him "what's up?, are you OK?" He say's "I'm fine but this beef jerky tastes like dog food" and he holds up a nice big bag of "Beggin Strips". After laughing uncontrollably for a few minutes, and him wondering why, we told him "it IS dog food" and that's when he saw the little puppy on the package, and that's when HE started laughing. We would be sure to bring that up every chance we got. Good times. It's times like that , that I miss working in that line of work, with a crew of "dudes" that know how to "joke" without being offended by a little humor.
