i dont understand why everybody thinks that just because alot of rangers tap well almost all of them but anyway i rebulit my 2.9 for my 4x4 89 ranger and it does NOT tap at all i have an exaust leak but thats it. no body believes me that it doesnt tap.

Well it's not usually a very loud tap so as you get older your hearing gets worse. As you get older there's other stuff that dosn't work like it used to either but we won't get into that now.

Mine doesn't bother me, I just keep my oil changed regularly, and add Rislone. If it gets too bad, I just turn the radio up, and turn to happier thoughts about my 4.0 conversion which is coming soon.:yahoo:

My 2.9 only ticks after longer cruises, like on the highway...but it settles down after a little while.

my 05 4.0 has a tapping noise. i think my alternator is part of that but i defiantly hear something else

NW

My 2.3L only taps for a while after a fresh oil change, but only when sitting at idle. After a while, it adjusts and stops.

My 88's injectors are the only thing that remotely makes a taping noise while it runs. The lifters tap only when first started on any day of the year, after that no sound from them. It was rebuilt about 10,000 or so miles ago though...

mine doesnt tap at all but nobody believes me cause they really dont think that i built my truck but it doesnt tap

i need help i dont know where to go to start one of these threds for another set of disscussion questions some body help
