Tailgate width

Trying to help a friend with a tailgate question. Checked specs and searched, but no actual measurement.

is there a way to tell the difference between a Styleside tailgate and a Stepside tailgate aside from the measurement of the width?

No, not that I can see, just the width is different, body lines look the same

Handle is in the center of course
The Badge looks to be the same distance from the edge on both

So if you were to "eyeball" the handle to badge distance it should be easy to tell the narrower flareside tailgate

Diagonal line from center of handle thru center of badge is well above lower body line on regular tailgate and lower, almost at the lower body line on flareside, if you have a picture of the tailgate

Does the regular tailgate have 8 bolts?

Yes, styleside(regular) has 8 bolts for access panel

Hey guys thanks. Confirmed my friend's tailgate is from a styleside based on visual cues of the emblem to handle distance, measurements and the eight holes for the access panel.

Yup, it's got 14 slots beneath the 8 bolt area. My flairside has 12 slots
