:bawling: i've been trying to find out for like a week and a half now lol if you were to remove your tailgate from the truck, there are four different mounts (two for the bottom, two for the support cables).

they're all bolted in using torx bolts and i don't have a clue what size. i don't have a full torx set and i don't want to go out and buy a bit for it to not fit

i need to get 'em so i can get exact measurements on the bolt-on tire carrier my buddy and i are building :icon_welder:

i know advance let me try the bit out before i bought it... depends on how nice the person is who is serving you though lol...

if i remember correctly, they are rather large, at least in my gen 1... try a 35+

you should be able to get the tailgate off without any tools the cables unclip and the one side of the bottom has a U shape so it will come out then the other side is a circle shape so you just pull away

Yeah you should be able to remove it without any tools, but those bolts should be a t35 or t40.

it's not the actual tailgate, that's already off. it's the actual mounting hardware, where the cable clips clip onto and where the bottom pivot ends rest on.

I don't know if there's a difference between 97 to 98 but if you can wait til tomorrow I can find out for you.
