in my 92 the blinker didn't work unless i applied extra pressure to the switch on the colum. After the blinker was off, i'd have to make sure the brake light on the same side was coming on. if it wasn't i'd have to play with the blinker a bit and my brake light would work again. The point of all this is that the brake lights and blinkers are connected somehow.
