hey guys, i was just wondering what all i would have to change to swap a t5 from a 2.3 mustang into my 97 2.3 2wd ranger, i'm not sure which trans is already in there, but i was thinking i would get better gear ratios so the truck would be a bit faster. If anyone has done it, what kind of gas milage does it get, is you truck faster, can it still haul stuff in the bed with out boggin down, and is it as durable as the actual ranger trans?

i know id have to retro fit a hydraulic clutch somehow for the swap, but what bellhousing would i use?

i wanna know as much as possibe about this swap as possible, i got this t5 for free as a present from my boss/good friend for my other truck getting a 302 and since it is a 4 cyl trans it wont fit behind the v8, plus ill feel sorta bad if i don't use it.

thanks,
jon

Not true. advance adapters makes an adapter to mate a t-5 from a 4-cylinder to a 302. I would know, mine has a t-5 out of a svo mustang :)

you wouldn't happen to have a part number cuz i can't find it on their site

The T-5 will have TALLER gear ratios than the M5OD-R1 "Mazda" trans you have now.

The bellhousing that came off the mustang is useless to you
because you really need an '87-88 T-bird Turbocoupe bellhousing
to install a T5 on a 2.3 in a Ranger.
