Worth it or not? I eventually plan on buying a red head steering box and a Saginaw pump but for the meantime I was gonna try prestone stop leak because the steering box is leaking and I was gonna see if it helps it's Ford whine.

Ive ran both for top offs and seen zero difference in anything. Same for running regular ATF.

Athough i will say i never had any luck with the stop leak stuff. I had a 79 that would piss it pretty bad.

On a suggestion i tried this stuff called "tri seal"...i think napa/autovalue still carries it. I dumped that in and it never leaked again. I was surprised how well it worked. Id use that before the prestone stuff.

I've never used anything but Dex/Merc. The stop leak stuff is supposed to soften seals. Unless it sat with no fluid in it for awhile, I can't see it ever doing much.

I use Mercon/Dexron III. Please don't put "stop leak' in it, I have zero faith in mechanics-in-a-can.
