Switch Frames or SAS

I would like some opinions on weather it would be best to put a 1994 ranger extended cab on a full frame or do an SAS? What frame would work and any other info you can think of would help.

That would really depend on what you plan on doing. Both are going to be work, and will achieve different things. What are your intentions for the rig?

All i really want is a super tall ranger. i want to be able to fit 44 inch tires. the truck is under the knife right now. gonna be a show truck. it will never see mud or trails or snow or sand. i want it to look good not like some guys you see with a super tall truck and big tires but their drive shaft is the size of a drum stick. Want to have a wider stance with at least ten to twelve inches of lift. Cutting the fenders is not an option.

In that case, do a drop frame ala monster truck with a front and rear four link and run rockwells. The only thing a fullsize chassis is going to get you for your purpose is more weight, and more work doing a body swap.

looking to not spend alot of money. i think a four link setup is a little out of my league. unless someone on here would be willing to help me out.

I could build a 4 link cheaper then a pair of 44" tires and rims..... you have priced them out right? Around $500+ per tire.....and your gonna need the axle to run them, even on the street your asking for issues running less then 1 tons.

Yeah I would stop right here if money is an issue. Your looking at atleast 5,000 just in the SAS or whatever and Rims and tires. Depending on the rims and tires that is cause you could probably spend easily over 1000 dollars per rim/tire combo. Not to mention all the restoration thats more then likely gonna need done.

Is this going to be street legal too? If so I would also look into a motor swap or finding axles that you can get a 7.--:1 ratio for so that your motor can turn them easily on the streets.

Swapping Frames!!

I need some advise on doing a frame swap. I have a gen. 3 ranger extended cab short box. What would be the best frame to swap my body onto. I heard that a 78/79 bronco frame is close to the same and all you had to do was put the body mounts on the inside of the frame. Dunno much about it just need some good advice.

If you can find someone junking out an old combine, you can get big aggressive tires pretty cheap.

I picked up a pair of 14.9-26 tires with good tread mounted on good steel rims for $50.

The rims are not really classy, but for a true enthusiest tires don't come much meaner. Probably not the greatest tire for the street, but then neither is a truck with 12" of lift.
