swapping front suspension/engine crossmember

I have a 94 2wd Ranger with a 4cyl & plan to convert to 4wd & plan to use a cross member from a 96 explorer. Will my 4cyl still bolt into that crossmember until a later date when I convert to a 4.0 v-6?

96 Ex is IFS won't work. You need at least a 94 or older Ex if that is what you are wanting to do.

I thought that the explorer changed to IFS the same time the Rangers did in 98

No, explorers changed earlier to a arms and rack steering.
