swap out 2.8 for 4.0

Can anyone give me an idea of how difficult it is and how much it might cost to have my 2.8 v6 (manual tran) replaced with a 4.0 and keept my existing trans? Is this a common upgrade. I would have to pay a shop to do it as this would be way out of my league. Is there a better option? Thanks.

that transmission wont stand up to a 4.0L. get a wrecked or rusted 91 - 94 explorer and robe everything from the explorer. engine, axles, transmission, harness, computer, and dash
