Swap Kit Opinions?

I don't believe a mechanical fuel pump will clear the stearing box on a '97-older Ranger.
Only one I'm aware of is from an Econoline van, I believe they mount upside down or something.

ya I've seen the ones that bolt onto the existing mounts for the old fuel pumps.. they are set 90 degrees opposite of the stock ones, I heard they work, but prolly just gonna go with a regulator. not like Ima need a computer anyways after this engine is in.

Oh and what are the exact models of rad's you guys used?? Ive been searching forever to find something that will work and is relatively cheap to get, teddyzee I would love to keep my 2core stock one and fan but dunno if Ill have the room or if it will keep it cool enough even with the upgraded pulley set for water, alt, cranck etc..

Mine is the stock 4.0 rad.
I removed the AC condesor, and put the rad in it's place. It sits down on the framerails, flush against the core support, with a little trimming to the underside of the top of the core suport.

I have standard 5.0 accesories, not the short Ex version. Two ten inch fans work great and clear the crank pulley. TS6034 has the same setup in an older thruck.

You truck will be slightly different, but will work with a similar setup.

I used a 94 Stang GT,had to do a butt load of trimming to get it in but it works great.
I scored rad plus the Efan with shroud on the bay for around $90 bucks plus shipping.
Its a 2 speed fan set up and I only use low.
I checked NAPA and a new one was a little over $100 for the rad by its self.

I hate in tank pumps! There is a thread on here some where about modding the pickup to remove the pump and still use the sending unit so your gauge works.I run a holley blue with a reg. set at 4 psi. With I ran the 2-4 setup I ran it at 8 psi fed 2 650's no problem.

My truck is 9 years older than yours so my input my not help.......And Im not afraid of a cutt-off wheel........lol.

EXACTLY !!!!:pray::icon_thumby: It's the upsidedown Econoline pump that's pretty much useless in a swap, even though it's recommended over and over again. :icon_confused:

Are the 3.0L rads much different than the 4.0L?? I think Im gonna use the 2 puller fan setup too that looks like its easy and the narrow width will give me a lil more room..

I would try using the 3.0 rad. I strated with a 160deg thermostat, just in case. But that ran way too cold.

As a reference, my bro is running a stock rad in his '85 RX7 (5.0). That thing is tiny, but cools well.

The more modified the engine gets (his, yours, mine) , radiator upgrades will likely be needed.

its basically gonna be stock other than, edelbrock intake, holley carb, and air cleaner. No a/c, necessary so all that is being pulled. My truck runs real cool now too. The temp gauge hardly ever moves so I think if i keep the rad I have and run 2 puller fans with the smaller pulleys I should be ok..
