swap from a 300 inline to a 351w

im starting my 300 inline 3 speed auto and swaping it with a 351w with a 5 speed on my 86 ford f150 short box just started pulling the front grill apart so it will be easier to pull the motor ill keep you guy updated

i have a 85 f150 short bed im about to put a 5speed behing my 300 and put a clifford intake and 4bbl on .. your gonna make me want a v8 in mine haha

i bet it will.. i recently found a 429 with trans with less than 50,000 miles on it im tempted to put it in the f150 but the 5mpg is keeping me from it haha.. what kinda mpg's was your f150 getting wtiht the 300?

5mpg...? You should get way better mileage...even with a 429. My buddy got around 15 on the highway with a 460, you should be able to do the same.

FWIW, I got around 20 with the 300 I had back in the day. Of course it was the OD 4 speed manual so an auto would be different. I have an advertisement from 1981 that advertises the 300 getting 21/27mpg if I remember right, too.

i have 12" wide tires in back and 3speed auto and get 15mpg no matter how i drive ..

i got like 10mpg with the 300 it has 185,000 on it the motors tired
