Suprised wife

Looks good, nice job!

Definitely sunnier now...hope she sees it before dark...:)

Good job on the window...and the siding looks better too...:icon_thumby:

it's actually the same siding.

Oh. The siding looked more gray in the newer photo and much neater. I thought you had it re-sided.

It was shaded in the first pic and sunny in the second. I think that's the reason it looks different.

Wait a minute! You took all the siding off, installed Tyvek, and then reinstalled the same siding? Wow. I'd love to do that too. Or was it new siding? Did your house already have wooden sheathing?

Our house has 2x4 walls, then 1/2" thick tinfoiled-styrofoam, then aluminum siding. No Tyvek, and no wooden (OSB/plywood) sheathing. Ants, flies, ladybugs, etc. get in through the @#$! big holes in our styrofoam made by poorly aimed hammers of lazy siding installers. Must have had strong winds that day. ;-/ We found SO MANY holes when replacing drywall. Grrrr.

Would you recommend Tyvek for preventing those bugs? Does it make your home any quieter?

I took off the siding and numbered the pcs as they came off, making it easier to put back on. It had the old wooden siding that came on old farm houses. As far as noise it really didn't do anything for that. Just keeps the drafts out while letting your house breathe.

EDIT: they had blown in insulation but didn't cap the holes, that's where most of the drafts would come from.

Wow looks good!
