Was tinkering with the idea and it still will make it there one day but the VMS Bronco is taking presedent.
Picked up a 1992 ranger for the smooth running 4.0L for the Bronco. Trans was so fawked that it was Jamed in fourth.
Couldn't bare to scrap it. It had a solid cab, just a few bumps and a bit of cancer around the rear wheels.
Was going to make a trailer out of it but stumbled across a sweet deal on a 2.3L and 5 speed from a 97 ranger. Picked up the 97 and tinkered with it for a bit to get it half assed running.
Got the 2.3L out and converted it to DIS and got an underhood harness from a 91 2.3L ranger.
Got the engine installed and wired up. Had it cranking over but there was no spark. No parts on hand to mess with it so it was abandoned. Had a 5.0L truck engine complete with AOD sitting in the shop begging to be used and was in the middle of wireing and gave up.
Wife was hard on my ass to know what I was planning to do with all this junk. I assured her it was going to get put together and it was going to be my DD.
I just wanted to get the thing running and on the road. So I looked around for another donar and found a decent running 89 BroncoII, with a running 2.9L.
Only drawback was the cracked exhaust manifold.
Found a M5OD from a 97 ranger, complete with clutch and starting system. Pulled the 2.9L out of the bronco and bolted up the 4.0L stuff.
After hunting for a 2.9L manifold and comming up empty handed. I pulled out the 4.0L manifolds I had from when i put the headers on the Bronco long ago. It all matched fine but the ypipe would of had issues at the oil filter adapter. So why not use the 4.0L headers? They were just sitting there. They have plenty of clearance. Just need to tweek the y-pipe 1/4 inch to make it all fit.
Time to get it put together.
