Supercab ..... or extended cab ..... or ..... ?

Okay, now i'm lost. I'm looking at an ad for a '98 Supercab ..... with only two doors?

Soooooooo ..... 4-doors only started in '99? Or ..... were only'98.5 ..... ? Or ..... wtf?!?!?! :icon_confused:

Educate me, please. I've been searching and searching and can't seem to find this little tidbit of info.

Four doors started in 1998. Seen one when I was looking at mine. SuperCab simply means that it has the extra area behind the front seats and they are classed by the number of entry doors.

Sure, but then there's 36" gobbled up by stairs leading into the house. :icon_surprised: Measured it tonight.

(shrug)

Pfft who needs stairs :icon_twisted:

Okay, got it now. Saw an '02 or '03 listed that was a SuperCab ..... 2-door.

Thanks everyone!

Slim, looking at all my old sales brochures, the name "Ext. Cab" disappeared in '98', I think the four door option might have been a mid-year addition. In '99' there is only the Regular or Supercab listed. Four doors was only an option on the XLT Supercab and there was the jump seat delete option. The name extended cab and supercab are still used interchagable. Just like there used to be a standard trans (now called a manual) and the automatic.

I applaud the extra effort of digging through the brochures! :icon_cheers:

It was here on TRS's own Resources (History of the Ranger) section that made me wonder all this in the first place with a pic of a red 4-door in the '98 section. Looks like a brochure pic to me. ;)

Well there IS a sawzall on sale locally ..... :icon_surprised:

I'm remembering that it was you saying I should keep looking for the bigger truck. (yes, i'm inviting you to give me the ol' "I told ya so" lol) Yes, I only lasted a year with the regular cab. Should'a tried to wait a little longer, but my health, mental and physical, are needed attention now, so I gotta do it.

Haha...no, don't cut the back wall out...unless you're really good with fiberglass and sheet metal...and know how to brace the thing so it doesn't wobble too much under stres...

I will refrain from the "I told you so" thing...even though it's tempting...lol

My 88 Ext cab fits in a 20' garage with a few inches to spare...

I would offer you mine if I knew I wouldn't need it...but my Zuki looks like it's going to need major body work (pillars are rusting out) and not sure how long it will last...I had been building mine to replace my old one, but then I bought the Zuki and didn't think I'd need to finish it...

Dang rust...

No worries - I just finished doing my financial spread sheet for next year. Ain't gonna be no new truck in 2010.

Looks like the next step is to look into a different pair of seats that don't have such a heavily padded back or something.

Stupid money. :annoyed: Errr, dang money. lol

you can order the 2 door extended cab still....a buddy of mine just ordered one brand new like 6 months ago. its an extended cab 2 wheel drive 2 door. it does not have the suicide doors.

Well I'm not working so I've got all kinds of time!
