Stupid Junkyard!!!

U-pull-its rule. All other junkyards suck.

Yeah dude.

Junkyards are gay. I have bought more stuff from random people's backyards and gotten way better deals.

That too. I got a BW1354M from a guy last year for $50 and a friend grabbed the M50D for $100. He was scrapping the truck the next day and said he would have given us the engine for like another $100 too, but we had no way to pull it. :annoyed:

All the yards around here except for one have either a bunch of old broken shit or only 1-2 year old stuff. And they want a small fortune for all of it. So these days unless I absolutely can't find something elsewhere or new, I don't hit the junkyard anymore. It's just not worth it.

My favorite junkyard, one of 10 yards within a half hour of my house, sells D60s for 150 bucks.

Yeah, they dont last long.

Goodies gone

I had a friend(I thought) who brought the squeezer machine into his yard to get some fast money. I spotted a late 60s muscle car with chrome covers, alum intake, and 780 Holley. I offered to buy the top end before it got squeezed. He quoted me an outragous price, and I countered with the cost of the scrap car and he'd keep the rest. No way, top $$$ or it gets smashed. He waited me out and smashed that jewal for 1/2 price what I offered. I never went back again.:dunno:

Our local Pull-A-Part is bad. People will hack up perfectly good parts to get what they want. They're too damn lazy.

I needed a filler neck for my Explorer. All of the filler necks, without exception, had been hacked up by careless, lazy people. I ended up buying one from a guy several states away who was parting out an Explorer.

The simple solution is we need MORE junk yards!

Really, when I was growing up in the 80's, we had "derby Dan" at the end of the road, a fairly slow moving junk yard, cars would come in, and he would let them sit. After 8 or 9 months he would do a "scrap yard day" and haul them in. (it was his side job)

If you needed a part of a vehicle he would sell it to you cheap(but you had to remove it) or he let you take the part for FREE IF you "loaded down" the vehicle with some scrap metal you got!

He owned under 10 acres and often the scrap would creep out to the road, no fences and I would suspect theives did steal, being way out in the country. Also the gravel road had a high content of nails, steel wire, and bolts that just stuck in tires!:annoyed:

..but as a kid it was exciting.

Junkyards in Houston are the same. A lot of parts go to waste.

A while back, when I was looking for a green Explorer overhead console, I was having a hard time. I coudn' find one explorer with a Green Dash. The only Green Dashes I found were the XL Explorers, but since they were XL, they had no Overhead console. When I finally found one, I was happy, but I went to get the guy because the Explorer was stacked up over TWO cars. I'd be damned if I had to climb up there. So I went and got one of the workers to get up there. It took him a while to get up there, but when he came down, he gave me the overhead console ripped out of the bracket. He broke the plastic where the screws hold on to the bracket and cut out the harness. I was so damn pissed because I had finally found a Green OC, only for this jacka$$ to ruin it. Worse of all, when I got to the front, the owner tried to blame the broken plastic on me! I told him to F#*@ Off and walked off.

Junkyard workers are so bad, two of them told me Ford never made Green Dashboards at all. Showed them my ranger, and then tried to play it off by saying that only Ranger came with Green option, not Explorers.

Then half of the Junk Yard Managers laughed at me when I told him I was looking for Fog Lamps for a 95 Ford Ranger. :annoyed: IDIOTS I say! IDIOTS!!!!

Any yard that pulls it for you is useless. They tear stuff up and don't have a clue about what they have or what they're doing.

Willow Green is a great interior color.

I miss that old rust bag. My Explorer had the nicest Willow Green interior I've seen, but also the worst rust I've seen on a '95+ Explorer (it was in PA for 13 years before I got it).

Here in PA the U-Pull-it yards are great. We have a 1 ton Dodge van at work with a blown rear and the guy I work for called his "friend' who has a junkyard right up the road and he told him he can get him one for 500. I went down to good 'ol EZ-Pull today and found one out in the yard and they torched the whole rear off of the springs drum to drum and brought it to the gate for me for 60 bucks! Granted I have destroyed alot of Ranger parts to get to what I need but there are just so many of them that it doesn't even matter.

I think you're probably gunna get strung up for that comment judging from some of the previous posts :icon_twisted:

I don't feel too bad doing the same sometimes because when I have to wade through mud, pull a part on my own with minimal tools because they won't let you drive into the yard, and then get charged 5x what the part is actually worth really burns my ass. To make matters worse when you bitch about the price they just laugh and you realize that they just got that part pulled out for free. Asshats

The lady who works the counter at the yard closest to me used to work at an auto parts store, so she occasionally pulls that crap sack out on you. "I know what these are worth, bla bla." Luckily after going there about 5 times in 2 weeks in December she knows me pretty well so she's nicer.

Hell my local junk yard has a ton of rangers and explorer’s. but sometimes they want a little for something or a lot. Most of the time I get a good deal. I found out if I want something I go and look for myself. I called once looking for the plastic clutch fan for my 4.0. they said they didn’t have any so I bought one from ford and then when I went to the yard they had an ass load of them. They were just too lazy to go look and it wasn’t a high dollar part. I have scored some good deals from there. $20 fender flares, $30 brush guard, $40 class 5 hitch, $35 fender, $25 lund cab visor, but with all the rangers there I can find a good set of doors or rims. Seems the first thing they do when they get cars it take the tires off to sell them and through the rims in a huge bin. But I’ve also have got good deals or better deal with private people. But I will not buy a engine or tranny from a junk yard unless I can hear it run or drive it before they pull it. I learned that one with my escort. bought an engine and the first one was junk but they replaced it with another but still had the hassle of installing it twice.

Willow Green is a nice color, but I had a hard time finding any Rangers/Explorers with it. I found plenty of those khaki and Grey interiors, but Willow Green, Forget about it!

Hell, down the road from where I live, there is a JY owner who is Asian. I went in there once and found a 2001 Ranger. It had a very nice and clean interior. It was missing the Engine and Tranny and the Fender was beat up, but not much. I tried to look up the reason it was in a Junkyard (Most of the times, if you search the vehicle, You'll find the Insurance sticker and reason for disposing of the vehicle) I found the small sticker on the back window and it said "Flooding - Ike". So, I started to take off the Stereo, then took off the Radio Bezel. My friend who was with me decided to just cut the wires off of the Cig Lighter and Fog Lamp with his knife. Right when I finished, this small asian dude comes up to us very mad and says

"Wha Yu Doin? (Sees the wires my friend cut) Ahhhh, Nooooo, yu cut wiars, Noooooo, you ruin truk, now truk nah good anymoar!"

Me being a smartass, told him that if he didn't want the truck to be used as parts, why in the hell would he park the truck besides an old aerostar with no rear axle and an old S-10 with no doors? Right there and then, he kicked me out. I told him I would give him 45 bucks for the bezel, and then

Naaaooooo..........Naaaaaooooh, why yu tel me fouthee faaiiive doulas, I run Younkyar fou tweendy yeear, yu no tell me pruahhice! Thees ah Hundred Dolla! Yu Pay mee Nouu oor get out!

100 BUCKS!!!!:icon_surprised:. I just got out of there asap. When we got on the truck, my friend told me to hightail it because when I was looking at the axle, he knifed the shit out of the steering column trying to get the ignition cylinder out. He was just bored and I guess he decided that it would be a good idea to stab something:icon_confused:.

Here in Hawaii it's the same thing. I have been looking for the Explorer tear drop wheels and was able to buy only 1pr. from the person that I bought my Bronco II parts car. The other 3 pairs had to buy them off Ebay. The cost of shipping is half of what I would pay for a wheel. The junk yards here would rather sell them for scrap then sell them to me!
I've parted over 30+ rangers and would perfer to deal with private owners than junkyards. I get to buy them dirt cheap or free.
