Built this 84 to drive to work. Fresh .030 over 2.0 w/ ported head and crane cam, all new brakes and lines, new steering components, custom exhaust, JVC/HD radio w/Kenwood speakers, just recieved a roll of dynamat for the interior and then some carpet under those Neon bucket seats..Still looking for more power!!

I've got a 86 SVO behind the barn! What about the 437hp 289 in the Super Stocker!!! I built the 2.0 when gas was $4/ gal....today gas was 1.49, "I could have had a V8" !!!

Now what I have heard from a few pinto owners that they take the 2.3 and put a 2.0 head on it to bump the compression ratio up.

Sounds like a great build but.....

I vote for a v8 swap... You can always get a four-banger economy beater later. A street truck should give people goosebumps and hard-ons when it starts and runs, not raise the question of who had beans recently...

It all depends on what you want to do. Many people on here have done amazing things with the four-bangers and got a crapload of power out of them, and it is pretty sweet. But for me, the growl has to match the bite...

That's just my opinion though...

:icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

thats good stuff.

but you see, thats the truely great thing about boosting a 4 banger. ya it doesnt have the testosterone of a v8, but who cares if you can back up your lack of bark with alot of bite.

300+HP and still getting 28MPG, yes please!

i still vote 2.3 turbo :icon_thumby:

Most of the pics I have of the truck are too large. Check out my Photobucket pics if you like. type in mustang9093 to see the trucks untill I can fix the photo sizes.

nice looking ranger

so thats what a ranger engine compartment looked like back in 1984 :icon_thumby:

very clean work youve done there, looks great :icon_cheers:

EDIT: the 2.0 and 2.3 are related arent they? in that case, maybe you could use the turbo and manifold from a 2.3T to boost the 2.0 (would be a shame to chuck it after a fresh rebuild). im sure it would make some respectable power (whats the reciprocating assembly made from?) and it would be the only boosted 2.0 ive heard of...

hows the cam? if the cam is suitable for a turbo motor i would build a turbo kit for it.
