i love the sound of straigth pipes. the ranger has 2.5 inche pipe back to where the muffler bolts on. the question i have is i unbolted the whole exhaust from the o2 sensor back and ran 2.5 inch pipe out to rigth infront of the rear tire. althougth it feels like i gained about 10 hp especially down low, has anyone done this before and had problems with it?

nothing you do to the exhaust after the cat is going to effect much...if you like the sound then keep it.

i actually noticed a good bit of difference with my truck. where it used to bog down in first gear startn off it dosent anymore

Running straight pipes had the exact opposite affect on my truck, it struggled to hit 60, and killed all of my torque, especially in the lower rpms, and I even have a few mods. Keep in mind that loud sounds have a way of tricking your mind into thinking your going faster than you really are.

i know my truck, and i know that it gave me more power down low. my truck easly hits the 95ish speed limter, and it sounds loud to boot
