Im curious what size the stock rim and stock tire is for my 99 ranger. I think someone put bigger, or smaller, tires on my truck. I have noticed my speedo will show different than the radar detector signs they have around town. I will be cruisin at about 25mph, and the radar detector will say im going 20mph. is the speedo on these naturally just 5 over what your going? or possibly I have wrong tire size creating the difference?

i think there is a sticker on the inside of the driver side door that has that info.

Ill look into that when the sun rises. Id sure hate to build miles up on the speedo faster than it should. If its off because of tires, and off 5 mph when it says im going 25mph but really im going 20mph, id hate to know how far off it is when im doing 60.

thanks

My 2000 Ranger was like that with the stock tires. I had 225/70/15s stock. When I got my first new set of tires I went to 235/75/15 cuz I couldn't find any tire tread patterns in the 225/70 that I liked, they were all tight street tread. I wasn't looking for mudders, I just wanted something with a bite cuz I was working construction and usually needed to get off the road onto mud/sand/gravel/dirt. Once I went to the slightly bigger tire, my speedo would read right according to those radar boxes.

right now theres 245/75/r16 rims/tires on there. Is that right for proper speedo operation on 99 ranger 3.0?

Just checked and found the info on door jam. They are the proper tires. I wonder why the speedo is off, at least at 20mph. I have no idea how accurate it is higher speeds than that

Drive down the highway at the posted limit next to someone who is also doing the posted speed limit.
