stock cd player for 2008 ranger?

My mother recently bought an 08 Ranger XL model. It's the work truck model and only has an am/fm radio. I would like to buy her another factory radio that also has the cd player, but I have a couple of questions.

First, what is this business about the radio being "locked" or "unlocked"?

Second, to help me with finding a factory cd player, are there other Fords that use the same cd player? For example, will the cd player out of a Focus, or F150, or Taurus work in the Ranger? Are they identical?

It would be a lot cheaper and you will get better sound by running an aftermarket cd player.

I am in the process of replacing my stock radio with an aftermarket one and i would be willing to sell it to you if you want it. Still need to look into it to find a price.
