A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
86 B2 2.9

I had some acceleration issues a new ECM took care of.

Still had a slight jerk/miss under load.

New plug wires/cap/rotor. Plugs are pretty new as well.

Now it idles better...but i still got a miss. Its not as bad as before, and actually when you lug it its smooth.

However when your accelerating normally, usually in 2nd gear and higher, and you get past 1/4 throttle or so youll get a hard miss. It seems to be most noticeable in 4th when you get after it a bit, itll be fine, miss, fine, miss miss, fine...etc. If you back off the pedal it seems to not do it (as bad).

Fuel pressure is good. Im thinking maybe an injector?

Also...as a side note...im running a an 88 ECM to eliminate the EGR. However i left everything in place...i dont have it actually blocked off...but thats what i did with my ranger too...could that cause this?

My 86 2.9 in my 84 BII has a miss when you put a hard pull on it early in the morning. When it finally goes into closed loop, it goes away. I have tried several things to get rid of it. Never helped it, so now I do not worry about it. After 15 minutes in the morning it goes away.

Whats weird is this morning after it sat 6hrs it hardly missed at all....it also dont do it cold.

Wtf lol.

Ill spray some either or something on the backside of the valve and see if maybe its not sealing

it can vary with temp and conditions.
