Well fellas. Many of you know. Ive had a RBV in my life since the time I was 14. From the first blackwidow. To the BII. The frankenranger. And the Blackwidow2.0. They’ve all been fun and loved dearly.

But after my recent heart surgery. And life changes. I’m pursuing my dream truck.

See. Since I was a teen. I’ve always loved the 67-72 Chevy c10 short beds. (Hence my old user name. Blackwidow67) and I’m in the position now where I’m able to afford a project and build it the way I want. But to do so. The rangers have to go.

But don’t fear. I’ll still be on the site everyday like normal. And come January I’ll be buying a 00 ranger from a good friend of mine as a back up truck for me and my better 7/8.

Stay tuned guys!

You don't have to own a ranger to be a fan. I wish you the best on the c10 build. I too will eventually sell my ranger and build a turbo silverado. I wish I could afford to keep it and do both but it just won't happen.

everybody loves 67-72 anything truck.....and if you dont love the later square you should turn in your man card.

just make sure you drop a7.3 powerstroke in it.

Squarebodys always have a special place in my heart. But I wanna do the c10. Maybe in a few years I’ll do the squarebody.

Maybe I’ll drop a 2.9 in so I can stay friends with @PetroleumJunkie412 lol

If youre gonna do it do it right and dont ruin it with a diesel.
Period correct 396 all the way.

Or 454....

Many car people have a closet woody for the old square body's, if done right, so if this is the style you want why not go for it? While I love my ranger I still wrench on family's foreign and domestic vehicles. Car people will relate to each other no matter what make or model you currently drive. Maybe a build thread in the Non Ford Trucks & SUV's section in the future?

I’m currently on the hunt for a 454. I thought about an LS. But if I’m building it the way I want. 454 with a th400 behind it.

Thats what i like to hear.

Theres not alot of old trucks left. Do them justice by keeping them somewhat correct.

Im a huge fan of 73-79 F series trucks, and it literally breaks my heart when i see a 7.3L stuffed in one. Or an LS, or whatever else they use.

You're going to hate me when I finish my '79 Supercab...
Cummins 4BT, ZF5, USGear overdrive, BW1356. All on a 2006 F350 rolling chassis.

Wtf man...

Nothing is original anymore anyway. It had a 400 in '79 when my grandfather bought it. It got a 460 when my dad got it. It got a new 460 with an 8-71 when I owned. Back to the old 400 when I sold it. And I bought it back 20 years after I sold it with a different 460. Who knows what was swapped in over those 20 years.

i wouldnt care if you were dropping a gtr engine in it and making it front wheel drive.....with riviera parts...

i have confidence in ya it will be bad ass and effective.

for a sunday a month 20 mile garage ornament... yeah...sure ...especially if it is a minty time capsule. i agree keeping it period in such a case...

if its something you want to build to use.... no way i would be heart broken when people use workable components.

especially a fe ford....why would you want a gas gobbling slobbering rope main engine in a dream cruiser? those ford engines in stock form sucked.... keep it motronic too? when spending coin on a full build though....they do have a glorious ring through the pipes....which makes oil drips easily forgivable. unless i had money to burn....cant waste money on a wheezed old engine when so much cool shit is available

a duramax would be ideal in any big block application. ridiculous power and economy. whether it is in a fairlane...suicide door lincoln or a chevelle...

then again....i like to drive my shit. FAR. if i had a old school 2.9 or sbf in my package....that wouldnt happen.

in this case.....big block power is a given....

That sounds like fun... FWD burnouts all day!!!

After getting off my Honda around 71, my first car was a wore out 65 Biscayne with a 235, sold to me by a drunk uncle for $35, maybe the best 35 bucks I ever spent. Next was a 64 Impala with a 283 off a car lot (the back part of the car lot) which got me through high school. It was nearly shot when i bought my first truck, a 63 Fleetside Chevy short bed with a 327 4 barrel. Then I put a straight 6 in the Impala and drove it a bit longer before swapping it for my first Ford, a 64 Galaxy 500 XL with a 351 Cleveland and 4 on the floor a guy had made for racing, it didn't last long. Then a 73 Econoline 300 with a 300 6 i drove for about 8 years. I'd still have that today had a scrapper not came along about the time my father began to lose his memory, while I was away and trying to wrap things up so I could get back home.
What I'm getting at here RFW is that whenever the Chevy/Ford debate ever came along I'd simply say "I've had good and bad of both", the "bad" usually due to previous owners mechanical skills I suppose, but they're both good solid American vehicles. Maybe that alone could spawn yet another debate, but I don't want in it :D
I wish you well sir in anything you choose to pursue :)
