Hey all, I'm desperate for some help here. My 1993 has had the most annoying and obnoxious creaking noise coming from the steering column for a while now, I've asked around for advice on Facebook and elsewhere and have basically gotten no answer.

This creaking noise happens at all times, Steering in both directions. It sounds like it's coming from right behind the steering wheel, and you can feel it clicking in both the wheel and the brake pedal. I rebuilt my steering system this January, new spindle ball joints l, tie rods, idler arm, pitman arm, gearbox, and new rag joints.

I cannot for the life of me find anything online from someone else having this issue. I took it to a professional and they didn't want to tear te column down. Please anyone who might've seen this issue before throw me a bone here, it's driving me crazy.

Here is a YouTube like to a video I recorded of what it sounds like:

93 may be different, but 1st gen up to 92 Rangers used a pancake ring for horn/steering wheel controls. I find mine squeaks some. I've cleaned and lubed it a couple times.

Probably have to pull the steering wheel...

I can believe the slip ring connections for the horn could sound like finger nails on a chalkboard.

On my 1992 someone tried to steal it years ago and busted in the column. I got a junk yard one and it lasted about two years in scratching and grinding before the bearing went out and the steering wheel just wobbled around. I found a replacement bearing at https://www.lmctruck.com/steering
