Hey all! As the title says i'm putting power steering in an 1983 Ranger with a 302 that has a manual steering box. I purchased a power steering box from RedHead for the 1983 and a CVF Belt system with power steering pump. There is a clearance issue with the new steering box not fitting because of the oil filter relocation kit lower line. The lower hose interferes with the power steering box mounting. This is an older swap and since it had a manual steering box clearance wasn't an issue when they selected the oil filter relocation kit. Is there a specific filter relocation kit that works best for clearance for the power steering box? Or is there a better solution i'm not seeing?

what are you using now?

Thank you @bobbywalter ! That adapter may be tight enough to do the trick, i'm going to give it a shot. The 90 degree inlet / outlet is a darn good start especially given the one on it now has the inlet and outlet coming straight out of the adapter then into the hoses. Many appreciations!

I bought several different billet adapters, tried them all, and the Trans-Dapt is the only one that worked really well.

I have similar on mine.

I can not remove it with the engine in the truck, it won't unscrew far enough to come off before it hits the power steering gearbox.

I originally had the PermaCool version of the adapter above but it had a crack in the casting and leaked bad.

This is what I ended up using. Installation/removal is a little easier with the center bolt design. I think you only need to raise the engine a little so the bolt clears the power steering box. You can also clock it in any direction you want.

I agree, this is the one to use. My 351 is pretty close to the steering box, too. I have to cut hoses to remove the engine because my adapter spins off so I have one like this that's going on next time I take it apart.

The adapter kit i got from Summit fits between the steering box and block. The engine seems to sit a little low with the prior owner's self proclaimed 'homemade plates'. We got a set of 4.0 motor mounts and 302 plates from RicksRangerz to see if it will sit a little bit higher. We only need a little bit more height to make the new oil lines. Also the kit I got at Summit has rubber lines that don't have metal braids inside so we are going with a different hose. @JokerLS240 if we have any issues getting the lines run at the angle the adapter settled at we may check out the adapter you recommended. Thanks guys!
