any one now where is a good place to get some steel near oak harbor.

I know there's Floyds Metal in Tacoma, but I don't really know how far that is from Oak Harbor.

Up just North of Bellingham is Zee's Metal Recycling. A while ago my buddy got some steel for like $1.35 a pound. It's all flat rate and may have gone up a bit since then since it was a few months, but it's real cheap.
