Hey all, I have an '03 4x4 Edge with 250,000 miles on her. The truck has had a rough life but has been maintained as best as possible. I had some issues a few months ago which led me to the fuel pump. I put a brand new OEM fuel pump in as well as a brand new fuel filter and it ran great for a while. Now, the truck starts, goes into high idle, then bottoms out and dies and does that every single time I try to start it. It will start every time but does the same thing. Any ideas of where to start? Since it has a brand new fuel pump and filter, I'm guessing MAF sensor, IAC valve? It's very frustrating after replacing the pump and filter just 1,000 miles ago.

Does it have any codes?

Try holding your foot on the throttle 1/8 of the way or so. If it stays running its the IAC

It's strange because it starts normally and goes into the normal cold high idle around upper 1,000's to 2k RPM then bogs down and stalls but when you fire it back up, it does the same thing over and over again.

Get someone ready with a can of ether or brake cleaner. Start it up, and get them to start spraying shots of brake cleaner into the engine. See if it keeps running. If it does, you have a fuel problem.

Just an update. It ended up being the MAF sensor. Before I started getting too deep into it, I unplugged the sensor and the truck started and kept running, as soon as I plugged it back in, she died. Since it has 250,000 miles on it, I decided to just replace it instead of trying to run some cleaner through it and it worked.

I love you

Lol, thanks @Ditman. I just started with the very first thing in the system since I knew the fuel pump and filter were brand new and pumping gas. I saw on some other forums talking about the MAF or cam position sensor so I figured I'd start at the beginning and work my way back and luckily it was the MAF sensor....not exactly cheap but it worked. Now, I am saving up to have the rear diff pinion seal replaced and one or both front CV axle joints. This truck has been through hell but I'm determined to keep her running until something catastrophic happens.
