IDK if it's the same with later models or not, but the early 4.0 auto starter and flex plate were the same size as the 2.9 parts.(9.567') The manual had a 10.906" flywheel. That's a 0.6695" difference in where the ring gear ends up (relative to crankshaft center). Seems like the plate would be far enough off to make bolting that together unusually difficult at least, if not impossible.
