Help starter won’t stop grinding, seems to be a small gap between the starter and plate. Idk what to do I’m pretty sure I have oem bolts. Do I grind the plate down at the top so the starter slides in?

Dude, is it just me or in the last picture, it SURE looks like you've got some severely damaged teeth on the starter. There's your grind. I'd immediately purchase a new starter. You may also want to manually turn the flywheel and inspect all teeth.

Yeah I also agree, I don’t think the starter is supposed to have an angle like that on the teeth 😭😂
Heard of the escort bendix trick so I may have to do that.. this starter was “brand new” if there’s any little sharp edges on the flywheel you think I could get away with maybe sanding them with a fine sandpaper?

the front edge of the teeth do appear to be pretty gnarly. I'd suspect that the spring in it (the starter) is shot so it is not launching forward to use the whole tooth, but instead just barely catching the front of the teeth.

It sure looks like your "Over Running Clutch Drive" (Bendix in Chevy speak) is getting chewed by your flexplate. It could be that the washer that is supposed to stop over extension of the ORCDrive is gone or recessed. You could try to find another washer and put it on. That's inside the nose cone and the washer has a flange on it. Its purpose is to protect the aluminum from getting beat to shit.
