started my v8 swap

if you knew me

I had to keep turning people down for that first ride. There's only 2 seats in it! It looks awesome BTW.

my friends are quite more reserved than me i take" unnecessary risks"a buddy tells me.pussies .thanks this is the shiny its going to be ever be . been on a stall life ,hoping to get started stripping and cleaning d35 and make my mind up c+t beams or bracket lift , it s going to be a point go hill climber 85% of the time . so i for see some big bumps at some higher speeds

Awesome, it's looking sweet! I think the motor looks great myself. Good idea with the stove finish.

I can't wait to see this finished.

If your going to have the possibility of higher speed "bumps" i.e. hondas, I woud ersonally cut and turn. Bracket lift are great, but for higher speed applications there is a lot of torque applied to the end of those brackets. Just my .02

thanks sunk the stove finish idea i got from my uncle long time ago .i also cant wait till its finished ,this part any ways lots of big plans. i think i have my scrap dealer into giving me a set of d35 beam s striped of course , and i will attempt my own c+t on these. this leaves my my full set up untouched . if i fail ,,, witch i dont very offten do . but one thing at a time need to get flashed up and motoring

I'm watching. After helping a buddy do a 302 swap in his B2, I can tell you now your in for alot of custom work.

aint no different than puttin a V8 in a ranger. piece of cake with the right parts. the only fab work i did was the motor mounts

how the did you get away with just making motor mounts

what you for tranny dip stick ,rad, shift linkage, ignition. oil filter. heater box, tranny, fire wall. it was a piece of cake but there is still lots of fn around.or as copykat said there lots of custom work.i just finished and i cant see how you able to do it with out having to deal with this things i have pointed out.just finished a 15 hour day so i sure i forgot a few other things that had to be addressed. ant no difernt then puuting a v8 in a ranger? wtf did i just do its not a fn v12 i put there . hmmmm?

i used a C5 tranny and shift linkage(bolt in)
throttle linkage,79 LTD(bolt in)
dip stick,C5
exhaust manifolds and Y-pipe,69 E-100(bolt in)
MII bell and converter
ignition,dura spark(swapped boxes)
oil filter,bought a kit
rad. support(slight trim)
rad(83 AMC Eagle)(cause i had it)

thats not custom/fab work to me. i even used the serpintine belt setup from the 79 LTD. everything i used were ford parts, except the radiator and oil filter kit

its not custom to me ether is dinking around with the small shit.the idea of custom is that you have to customize an original part to fit or to make work for your application. i mated a c4 and c5 the the c4 was out of a f150 when it started life so i had to deal with the dip stick i opted to just build my exhaust that way its duel and was where i want it. i had all the parts also ,never even left the property .the oil filter kit is store bought, so is my rad just because i wanted it . from your post i would say you custom mounted your rad to work no mind where it came from. you customized your ignition by adding the dura spake box because the old no work so you took from a deferent application made it work for you . you see my point it was not a plug and play as your first post sounded hats off its lots of work , and it sounds like you got it all together no problems. my only problem was my first rad suppler .and that ones ended up in court.

parts

filter kit is here hopefully some mall pics this weekend

I was wondering if this thing was moving yet!

And they say it's a Weekend project.........Ppppfffttt!

no shit even with all the parts laying there :icon_surprised:

Holy crap. That is a lot of engine for a Ranger. I recently aquired my late grandfathers 1992 Ranger Custom 4x4 extended cab. What did you need to shoehorn a cleveland in there?

I have a cleveland sitting around here somewhere. Aren't they getting hard to get parts for? I had a 70 Mach one and seemed parts where scarce and expensive then (middle 90's).

Anyway, to the original poster. Nice work. May have to fly you here and have you help me! haha

running

took most of the day so sort out some small stuff . and get my oil filter in. not real happy with the kit visually but the quality seems ok .its a trans dapt kit .any ways started it, runs nice little loud for me right now but ill let that go .hoping to get out of shop tonight for a drive. get some pics up of a burn out or a hill climb or something,as soon as i find my cam .?:icon_hornsup: getting cold -20 in the wind this morning.

Great post. Can't wait to see how well it works for you. Looks awesome so far and hell of a lot of work. Would love to add a v8 but have to do it somewhere warm and have all the parts before I could start. :icon_thumby::icon_cheers:
