Squeaky Belt

I hope this is your fix, but I would expect the squeal to return unless there was something wrong w/ your old belt. In your original post, you stated that a new belt had been put on. Let's be positive and say It's fixed.

When I was putting the new one on it felt tighter than the old one. Why new belt would become loose so quickly is weird.

Here is an idea that won't cost you any money only time. Pull your old tensioner assembly off and take it to your local parts store and compare yours to a new one. My old defective tensioner did not have the same amount of swing as the new one. It also looked different, comparing the two right there in my hands. Maybe you'll find that the old one will swing w/ less force. You don't have to buy it if you don't want to. Another thought, are you running the defroster on to heat your truck. When you do this, it operates the A/C compressor to remove moisture or humidity within the cab. This will make a belt squeal when you have something marginal going on. The Compressor could be overcharged. Try heating w/ direction to the floor or dash vents. You're almost there.

Finally fixed

Sorry it took me so long to reply but it's been awhile since I put the gatorback belt on and my truck hasn't squeaked one bit. I highly recommend this belt to anyone with a squeaky truck.

at the end of my rollaround toolbox hangs a bottle of good ol windex, or window cleaner as it were, when I bring vehicles to the shop for inspection and repair, if the belt or belts are or aren't noisy, I spray them down with the engine running, now this might make the belts squeak for moment, but it cleans the belt and cleans the pulleys, and remember, serpintines have both directions of bend to them, inside and outside, of course I've only been doing this since the 70's, so I could be wrong, just my 2 cents
