I recently replaced my drivers side drive axle and it took me over a week(working on the truck at night after 12 hour shifts),when I put it back together the axle is fine but I have a problem with the brakes that wasn't there before, when I come towards the stop sighn the brakes feel fine until the last 30 feet or so when you apply the most pressure, then its spongy as hell and pulls to the right like crazy,I have bled them numerous times to no avail, could it be air snuck in while the caliper hung by that wire for a week?but that air should bleed out!I,M STUMPED!any suggestions would be a help.
Thanks,
B

It may have nothing to do with the recent work.

I'd suspect a leaky master, especially if pumping the brakes makes it better.

Solution?!

A very common mistake when disassembling the hub/front bake setup is to reassemble the caliper with the hose twisted! It can be hard to notice the twist some times on longer hoses. Does the car pull to one side or another when you try to stop. If it pulls in the opposite direction as the side you fixed (pass side), it is likely that you did do something, such as what I mentioned. If so, take the brake apart and look for a problem.

Let me know.

sounds like a possible damaged soft line...it wont leak, but ballons out a bit and wont apply full pressure.

its why you dont hang the calipers from the line. the damage will be invisible to the naked eye..

i have done it more then i would like to admit:secret:

although I hung the caliper from the frame with a wire I was afraid of a kink or something being the cause, thanks for the suggestions fellas,I'll be pulling it apart tomorrow and trying it again
:bawling:

Check the wires running to the hub assembly. You might have forgot to plug in or accidently pinched the wires during disassembly trying to get the cv shaft removed.
