Spend My Money

LIFT IT! A 2 inch lift would look good with some 33's underneath it! :D

I'm absolutely not a fan of look over function so I suggest get something than can do both. HID's for everything in the front and LED everything else. Possibly a muffler and a K&N to help it breathe better and a louder horn, those are always fun.

I am very much considering projectors and LED tails.

this looks great but on the all around i find it a bit odd.
i would not paint the frame unless i could tear it down to rails outside of spot modifications or repairs. its too hard to prep it correctly and not get paint on shit you dont want to. most trucks i see dont look to good up close.

i like it just like it is for a daily driver....turn the suspension in the front up a hair and call it good:dunno:
I would definitely agree on not doing a full underbody paint. Stick to skid plates and other things that can be unbolted, anything else spray black if anything. On my Ranger, the rear axle is the only thing I brushed while it was on the truck, and that was not fun. Looks cool though.
I'd also agree with maybe just turning up the front suspension or better yet not touching it at all. Bigger tires and a lift may look badass but an economical daily drive it does not make. Plus if you use the bed for hauling anything heavy even an additional 4 inches makes a big difference in getting things in or out.

straycat If I might ask where you got those diamond plate bed sides from? And your front hitch? Is that installed upside down?

The frame and underneath paint I'm talking about are just some of the visible, paint worn pieces. It'd just be a spray it back to black.

Trust me the 2" lift on it already means that when I have to haul the mower, I take our 2wd s-dime. The main thing this truck hauls is DEER.

Economy isn't a huge deal because we have my Sonic for most trips, the s-dime for others, and hubby's commute is a matter of blocks.

You guys are giving excellent advice/ideas. Keep em coming.

They have a 2 inch bl on it. She already stated this in her earlier post. More lift will look great. That is a nice loooking Ranger!!!!

The bad caps came are made by Willmore Mfg. I bought the pair for the sides from JC Whitney many years ago. The tailgate dimond plate peice was made by a frind of mine who was doing a set for his early Bronco and his Dode Dakota. He made it for free. Best gift is free!!!!

My hitch is installed rightside up. Here it is before I mounted it:

Also we were looking at stuff today, I guess I was surprised at the way the front suspension actually looks. No springs, just some rusty ole shock looking things. With the little experience I have with lowering springs and coilovers, I think it looks pretty simple to upgrade this suspension and therefore lift it.

The shocks are just shocks, there are torsion bars which act as springs. They can be adjusted to give about 2" more ride height for the cost of an alignment.

But for wrestling a dead deer around in usually adverse conditions (seems it is usually dark/raining/snowing when I am trying to load) another 2" is quite a jump.

I also recommend putting off the exhaust until the stock one goes out. It is a waste of money to trash a good exhaust for something louder. I did it once on my dd, won't do it again.

I think a brushguard/winch would look real good on there. And could save him from a hell of a pickle when hunting if he got stuck in a nasty spot...I also second the HID/LEDs idea, that's something I'm looking into doing soon.

$500 would get you one or the other... not both.

I have a Westin Sportsman on my '150. Not set up for a winch but is great for brush and mounting lights. I haven't tested it yet but I think it would help in case a deer took an attack run on the truck going down the highway too.

I got mine for $70 off of craigslist though, needed repainted was all that was wrong with it.

Harbor Freight has their Badlands 12,000 lb winch on sale for $299.99. Get one. Or two.

^^ +1. Leaves a couple hundred to find a decent bumper to mount it on.

But the "psychological comfort" created by having a winch leads to broken stuff... :icon_welder:

:D

Instead of using paint on the fenders use Rhino-Liner. But guys will like anything that has a prerunner bumper. OR get Fiber Glass Fender flares, because why not
