speed control system recall?? 98 ranger

i just got a letter today for a recall on the 05s28 speed control system
aperently if not replaced could have under hood fire. my trucks got 263k on it never burnt to the ground yet .

No fire? You are lucky.
The other possibility is that the cruise will quit working. The cruise will just not set to any speed. This is a known problem with the brake cutoff switch, a hydraulically actuated switch on the brake master cylinder. It could leak, which would cause a short and an under hood fire. If the switch is leaking, you will get a new switch. If the switch is not leaking, you will get an inline fuse for that switch. I had it done at no charge, then when the switch quit working, I bought the replacement ($22) and put it in myself in 10 minutes.

bring it to a dealer..its free ! takes 15 min and dealers should have the part in stock..that recall has been out for a bit
