Spedometer fluttering?

ya mines off 20-30% at any given time. I've had the dash apart 2 or 3 times to lube the cable and inspect it. I can't figure it out, i think it's my gauge since it's got well over 230,000 miles on it. I just live with it.

So how much would a new spedometer be (about) and would it just be best to get it from a junkyard?

The speedometer is a removable part of the cluster, so you don't have to pull an entire cluster for it (although it's easier to). I pulled a cluster for my Taurus and it was $12 at a U-Pull it. But YMMV.
