Manual
Hey guys, Im in the middle of changing the clutch on my 2.3L 92. Ive got the transmission sitting on the crossmembers, but my slave cyl is still connected.. In my haynes manual it says i need a special tool to press on the white release ring to disconnect that clutch cable, i took a couple pocket knives and pushed on both sides of it and couldnt get it. Any suggestions on how to remove that cable? preferably without having to completely rebleed the clutch?

Thanks!

Usually it takes a little compressed air and some cleaner spray to get all the junk out of the quick disconnect. Then you need to get ahold of the piece coming out of the trans with a pair of pliers and the fitting on the end of the line with another pair. Work them until they turn really easy then blow the junk out again. Then you can push the white ring in with a couple of screwdrivers.
If you can't get it to work, you can just unbolt the clutch master and reservoir and pull it with the trans.

There is a special tool for it, it can be bought at most auto parts stores, but you can also use an open ended wrench, it helps if you push the tube towards the slave, then depress the white clip, this will help to release the fingers inside the joint.

im guessing its pretty much impossible to pull this tube without having to rebleed it eh?

No, If you get the quick dis connect to come off You will get very little air in the system a very quick gravity bleed will get it. If you pull the master and resevoir with the trans there will be no bleeding what so ever. Well, unless you cut yourself.
