so, i went to my local club meet, and 2 of the guys there were at a local hamradio fleamarket, they came across this speaker, and looked at eachother, and apparently they simultaneously said my name... it was marked at $10.00 apparently they got it for quite a bit less than that, and brought it to me...

now, i'm trying to figure out how it works (doesn't look high tech in any aspect) what impediance it has, and what to do with it...

what i do know, is it's made by a company called "university loudspeakers" or so i'm lead to believe, by the stamping on it, the driver unit (which i can unscrew off the back of the cone) has "uni-dex" on the sticker, and the logo does look familiar

here is a pic of it assembled, sitting on the floor, next to my work boot, for an idea of scale, the boot is a 13" sidezip boot (the zipper on the side, which goes from heel to the top of the boot, inside the calf, is 13" long) and the boot is size 15

i haven't googled everything yet, i'm sure that will turn up a bunch, i mostly wanted to post a "look at my new toy" deal :D

i plan to stick this on a wooden board or something, and just stick it in the bed of my truck when i want to use it... i think i can probably wire it into the amp for my sub...

Two guys simultaneously said your name over the loudspeaker...

I'd be worried.

Hahaha, I just couldn't help making a joke out of that. I like the looks of what you've got there, and I'm going to keep track of this thread to see what you learn about it.

I take it you like music loud and for the general public. That would be why they immediately though of you upon seeing a PA speaker.

cody, the moment i saw it, that is what came to mind!

so i tested it today, hooked it up to my roommate's home stereo system (killed all of the other speakers, for an isolated test) and it does work! it's not very loud, we didn't turn it up far though... which implies to me it has very high power handling, and CAN put out a tonne of sound...

it has virtually no treble, and even less bass, we played some bullet for my valentine through it, and most of what we heard was vocals, which makes sense as it is a pa, for people talking...

BFMV FTW..... That is all.....

BFMV isn't as good as say... A7X, but damn good either way...

hey Andrew, i'm going to be in edmonton tomorrow and sunday, have a family bbq thing tomorrow afternoon, and i am staying for a memorial for the murders last week...

anyways, as it's looking, i'm not going to have anything to do tomorrow evening, care to meet up for beers? discuss banner logistics or something?

BFMV and A7X never caught my interest, but friends of mine that are addicts to those bands will never dare compare them to Machine Head (my favorite metal band).

Weez, can you see about putting up a video of that speaker being tested?

Sounds good, gimme a shout @ 999-1123, north AB area code.... Have a beer and check out the ranger, lol.

Apparently my BBQ is going later than expected... I'll text ya regardless though, might work out... If not, I'm sure we will still meet up for the banner...

Sent from somewhere naughty!

My brother in law is border patrol so he got stationed in Laredo, Tx, he runs into those all the time in the ghetto side of town since the "thing" to do there is rig up loudspeakers and play your music through them in order to make everyone else listen to it too...wow I hope you aren't gonna do that weezl lol

i have no idea what i'm going to do with it, i think i have to put it on the truck some how, for a 4x4 run... i would love to put it on like this, but it just won't work with our trails...
