The Toyota dealership wants $195 per remote to buy an extra remote for my wife's 97' Avalon.

Somebody here must be bad luck. Lost mine coming into the house yesterday, all of them plus the house key. Had the dealer cut two new ones for the Mustang and reprogram. Keys were $25 each and the programing was $58. Had no spare for the non-Pats truck so it cost another $14.14 to have two keys cut off the VIN. Thought that was a good deal. Now I have spares for the spares! Non-pat's can get done at the hadrware store for $1.50.

i got 2 ford chip keys off ebay for 15$ just buy them there and get them cut at a normal cutter and then have ford program them. it saves money

Couple quick things. It takes 2 keys to make 1 new key or it's off to the dealership. You can get a regular key made then just take the working key and superglue it near the steering column. If more than 1 PATS key is on the key ring you could confuse the PATS system and the truck won't start. Remove one of the keys. Dealer did the last one but before I could say anything they were already pushing it into the service bay.

you can use this...put your pats key in it....run the loop ring around the key cylinder and wire up the black to ground, red to 12+ constant power, and pink to ignition. then you can have as many regular keys as you want. did this with my g/fs mustang since she only got 1 key when she bought the car. its better than super gluing a key to the cylinder.

Thats the back way. Problem is everyone is discontinuing the bypass modules that require a programed key, meaning your right back where you began, needing two keys to program the thing.
