Sound insulation

Backwoods is somewhat correct, but plastering a panel such as a door with tons of CLD tiles (dynamat) is waste of time and money. Also, CCF is more for creating isolation between solid pieces that can rattle than actually providing a sound barrier. For instance, the MLV can rattle against the door and CREATE unwanted noise, so its best to insulate it from the bare door. The MLV is what blocks the biggest majority of sound moving through the air.

Here is a site that can explain everything in great detail if anyone is interested. It was written by a person that is considered in the car stereo world to be the foremost authority on all things car sound deadening related.
