Something weird just happend...

I seen an ad the other day where temu was selling a scissor lift for vehicles....the ad showed a guy under the car doing shit.

Id trust harbor freight with my life over friggin temu
I won’t do Temu. I’ve heard too many sources talking about the Temu app being a way to siphon your private info and habits from your phone. I’m sure some of that already happens. But I’m not going to purposefully install a Chinese app on my phone to make it easier on them.

Unfortunately they’re probably both made in the same factory in China anymore…

Amazon, EBay, Ali, Temu, Wish… even half the big box stores have all the same stuff essentially anymore. Precious little is made in the USA. Some things I insist on USA made, sometimes it’s a matter of what you can get.

I insisted on American made rotors and I couldn't find them. So, I decided to stand my ground and cut a hole in the floor so I could insall a Fred Flinstone braking system. After several months I realized I was wearing out my shoes that were made in China. So, I just went back to buying a set of rotors made in China.

Junk with old American brand names that everyone recognizes as legitimate brand quality and then you get hit with the "poor quality bomb". China junk. That meets no quality standards. Thank you big corporate american business for selling me out...made of junk chinazinium that turns back to a liquid in 2 years. There ought to be a law.

Consumers share a good part of that blame. There are a lot of people who make buying decisions based only on price. That's OK if you are buying a spatula. It's asking for trouble if it's a set of rotors. Also, many American brand names are owned by private equity groups. Those brands are now only names. If you see a product with RCA or Zenith logos on them, they are generic products that someone is paying royalties to screen-print those which owns at least 17 brands of auto parts including the ones under Federal-Mogul. First Brands Group is another example. https://firstbrandsgroup.com/

Probably.

It doesnt matter what you buy anymore its all garbage.

The wifes been bitching wanting a new washer. Ours is 10 years old, i rebuilt it (basically) at 5 years old, and its about due again.

I cant get through her head id rather spend 150 bucks every 5 years to redo this one rather then drop 1000 for a new one....and unfourtantly she dont seem to hot on the idea of a speed queen, which would make good sense for us cause it seems the damn thing runs 24/7

Holy crap. It looked good before I hit “post reply”. I’ll go back and correct it.

I just went in and turned off about a dozen things on this stupid Apple phone they give me at work.
Did you know there us an "Apple Dictionary"? Turned that off, plus auto spell, auto correct, auto punctuation, predictive text and a bunch of other nonsense. From now on, you get "pure me".

Yeah, I make enough mistakes on my own without the help of such things making it worse. I can't tell you how often I have to go back and fixed stuff I mistyped.

Pure you, huh. So you own that mistake?

To be fair, in the late 90's when I left the farm, we had a round top 50's fridge that was still chillin away in the garage, other than the fact the power meter spun like a top anytime it was plugged in there was no reason to replace it.

I have a Coldspot fridge in my shop that my grandparents bought brand new in 1952. I even have the receipt for it somewhere. It works great as a fridge, but the whole thing will freeze if you have it set cold enough for the freezer to work, and if it's low enough not to freeze your beer, the freezer won't freeze things. Kind of annoying but my beer is cold.

It sips power - I should plug it into a kill-a-watt sometime but I doubt it uses much at all. Modern fridges are terrible with the self defrosting features. The old ones SHOULD be very efficient, if they're not, something is wrong... electricity was really expensive back when they were new.
