Someone Shot at this Ranger

Already was running a melling 328 high volume oil pump, and have an electric scavenge pump on hand to go between the return side of the turbo and oil cooler. Pump sits at lowest point of oil system, and I have the wiring done to the megasquirt to run it before the engine cranks. So in KOEO, you'll be able to prime the oil system every time the engine is started.

New cam bearings are modified with a bypass oil passage in them, in the event a cam bearing decides to spin

Oil passages were chamfered to Pruett spec, and free floating rockers should help move a lot more oil across the top end.

Lifter choice was for FE block APUs to diminish potential lifter failure due to oil starvation... Which, I don't think I'll have an issue with.

Damn near dry sumped the thing, but couldn't track down a Benz to rob the dry sump system out of.
In all seriousness you’ve addressed the things that give me concern on the 2.9, including the dead-end hydraulic lifters. It looks like a cool engine, and should be plenty strong!

Hoping so. Goal is to be at the 340+ mark, with the majority of the design focused on longevity and power.

Colognes in general have their issues, but I'm finding that they're mostly due to p*ss poor craftsmanship and lazy AF factory workers. Every one of mine that I've checked has the casting sand issues mine had - pistons 3 and 6 were still entombed in sand and clay, and there was no way for coolant to flow. Soda blasting seems to have taken care of that entirely. But that would explain blocks warping and heads cracking. Interestingly enough, mine never cracked its heads. ?

Just for that, I'm going to chain on to a running 3.0 and rip the crank straight out of the mains.

You are going to do all this work to your 2.9 and plan to rip the crank out of it trying to keep up with a 3.GO? :icon_confused:
