Latest news from my B2, I bought a new pressure regulator since the other new one was not working, now I have good pressure when I turn on the ignition I have +- 40 PSI, engine running around 30-31 PSI, a little slightly blue smoke after 2 minutes, after 7-8 minutes stops suddenly without the fuel pressure decreasing, remains at +- 30 PSI.
small thing that I notice is the oil indicator light which flashes even though the level is good
I had time to pull the codes and I got 12,42,73
12: RPM at idle out of range/high
42: HEGO (HO2S) sensor voltage high / system rich
73: (Trucks ONLY): Insufficient Throttle Position changes during Dynamic Response Test
I checked the ignition timing and it's at 10° with the spout removed.
I know the TFI can cause the engine to stop, but I put my hand on it when it stopped and it wasn't hot, which I think is normal after only a few minutes.
Any ideas what's causing the engine to stop without any apparent clues?

Well if fuel pressure remains constant then either the injectors stop working or the ignition cuts out. I can't see it warming up enough in that amount of time to lose compression even if it were severely worn out.

Oil light flashing would have be some kind of electrical fault or oil pressure is up and down right at the 5psi of the pressure switch.

Get one of these spark testers. When it quits... put it on a plug wire and check for spark.

Does this truck do this consistently and does it start right back up?

If this truck has been sitting for awhile (meaning years)... I would go through the connectors for ignition and fuel and ensure they're all clean.

I found a bad ground splice on mine that was causing all sorts of running issues. From poor idle to complete shut down. I found it using the wiggle test while idling.

It doesn't sound like heat is an issue with the TFI... but you never know.

Haynes manual has a good test for checking you primary and secondary for your coil. The map/maf sensor is known to cause issues. When was last good tune up on this truck? Still stock O2 sensor? Your water temp sensors, and Idle Air Control valve is easy to clean. Like Uncle Gump mentioned try the wiggle test while running.

If it doesn't restart after it quits watch the tach as it's cranking. If the primary ignition is working the tach needle will wiggle a little. If it lays there dead you don't have spark.

Thank you for your advice; I will continue to search with your recommendations.

I thought that the 2.9l was supposed yo have 34 psi while running?

I've been having problems for about a year. A year ago, it was losing power and wouldn't restart if I turned off the engine. I had to wait 15 to 30 minutes and then it would start again.
Since then, I've replaced the ignition coil, water and air sensors, idle air regulator, manifold absolute pressure sensor, throttle position sensor, distributor and TFI, all three relays, EEC-IV computer, fuel pump and filter, pressure regulator, alternator and battery, ignition switch, reservoir, and low pressure pump are about 2 years old. I had to order a regulator twice because the first one I received was bad, so maybe another part I replaced is bad too. It's because I really enjoy driving this B2 that I'm trying to fix it, otherwise I'd do my wife a favor and drive it to the junkyard.

For gaz i know the pressure should be 34 psi I don't know why I only have 31, maybe this second regulator is not really good yet

new test, it ran a little better, slight clicking and oil light that came on while the level was good maybe a little too high, I redid the obd test and I had codes 42 and 77, when I closed the code reader the engine stopped. it restarted but I had to put a little gas for the engine to start. I think it's an air intake problem (throttle opening or the idle sensor) or the co2 sensor
