so im gonna swap a 4.0 into my '84 ranger and i know the OHV 4.0 goes in really easy, but is it the same with the SOHC? i would rather have the SOHC because of the performance gains but if its gonna a lot of fab work id settle for the OHV 4.0... anyone have input? i look through the tech library and couldnt find an answer... any help is appreciated!!:icon_thumby:

It'll go in the almost the same as an OHV engine. Not really any extra fab work.

It's the wiring that'll get ya. It's best you have a complete running parts truck.

Plan on swapping everything forward of the front seats.

That's what I figured, thanks! I think I'm gonna go with the SOHC, just needed to be sure that it wasn't too different

To make it nice, there is a dash swap involved. That's gunna require some fab work.

Make sure you start a build thread, I wanna see this come along.

If that's the case itl be all the innards from the SOHC dash and probably a custom aluminum outside... Iv been wanting to do that anyways. Ill be doing the swap over the summer, gotta save up some money and finish my bed right now... I have a thread but I'll make a separate one for just the swap as well
