Hello guys if already in a different thread plz share,
Where I'm at: rebuilt tranny. New hydraulic line, havent changed slave, i can turn truck on but not put into gear only when off, bench bled the hydraulic line, and bled again multiple times once I re-installed the line, then pulled line out to recheck no air bubbles still stiff when not connected to slave, but still can't put into gear. Suggestions or help slave not leaking, 96' 4.0 ranger 4x4
P.s. possibility that who installed my tranny used manual fluid not automatic, is that a problem when shufting

That sounds like air in the slave cylinder, so I would try bleeding it a bit which should help.

I've bench bled twice and gravity bled, and bked once I installed the line back on after bench bleeding, is it possibly the slave cylinder I mean its not leaking or anything but I haven't changed it

You are "bench bleeding" the master only then.

So after hooking up the line to the slave you will need to open the slaves bleeder
It is best to have a helper push down on the clutch pedal while you open the bleeder on the slave and then close the bleeder before the helper lets clutch pedal come back up
Repeat that a few times
Then refill clutch reservoir

If you are on your own then use a Stick to push down clutch pedal and brace it against the seat
Slowly open bleeder then close it before stick looses pressure
Repeat

Yes, 1996 Ranger will have an M5OD-R1 transmission, it should use ATF(automatic transmission fluid) not Gear Oil, but that would not stop you from shifting into 1st or any other gear.

What happens if you put transmission in 1st, and THEN start the engine with clutch pedal down, be careful?
