to putting the automatic hub piece back on the spindle nut after packing and replacing the front wheel bearings on a stock Dana 35? This thing is kicking my but!!!!! The piece with the two springs around it.

Throw it away and put manual hubs on, lol

IIRC it should screw on but to snug it down you need a socket for it, but it's been awhile since I looked at one.

I don't think there is any secret, it's just a bit of a bitch to get back on. It needs to be fairly tight for it to work.

back when i still had auto hubs, i found its relly important for it to go on straight, any angle at all and they just wont go. if it was cold out id let the plastic cam warm up inside on a heat register while the spindle nut itself remained cold (and installed) on the truck. sometimes it was a fight, sometimes it went reasonably well. sometimes you just have to walk away for a few minutes and then come back and give it another try.

The "cam" for the auto hub that goes on over the pilot on the nut
is spring loaded and has to stretch to install on the nut.
