So I got a new company vehicle.....

i know which is dumb, i love my crown vic, the problem is they got the name as an old persons car or a police car. if ford would remake the 2 door crown vic or do sporty version of it they could make some money. mine rides smooth, handles great, moves out of its own way, gets good gas mileage, reliable as ole faithful, has a great sound system, lots of trunk room, and has seats that are comfortable even for me at 6' 3".

what more could you ask for

They basicly did, to little success. DOHC 03/04 Merc Marauder. One problem with the Marauder was that due to costs, they didn't put the most optimum setup in like the gear ratio, so they'd be easier to sell and it was "suggested" certain modifications be made by the owner.

To me, the fact that cops use them is a testiment to their awesomeness. Cop cars get abused, and they hold up excellently.

i'm very familiar with the maruader, but price hurt it, but i also think part of the reason its didnt catch on was the fact that it was a mercury. i think ford could get by with a high performance vic but not mercury. they basically need to build a newer version of the rare 1992 crown vic touring sedan, but with a supercharged 5.0l and a 6speed manual option. then again price might hurt it with the supercharger, but i would totally test drive one

ps I almost bought a 92 touring sedan, it showed up at the car lot in town on friday night, by the time i got around to talking to them on monday morning it was sold to another dealer who probably had no clue what it was. they only made them for 1/2 a year and are imposible to find and i know of atleast 3 that where scrapped or put in a demo derby :-(

It was tried, and failed.

**edit** Someone beat me to it.

wait what? why?

The Crown Vic definitely WILL be discontinued this year. It already has been discontinued for customer sales for a year or two and fleet sales will stop this year. Why? The same reason the Ranger is being discontinued. It hasn't been updated in about 15 years and sales have been plummeting.

The basic car has been around since the 70's.

That's progress for ya. lol

It can't help that the Chargers are gaining police contracts like crazy.

isnt ford just coming out with a police interceptor taurus to replace the vic?

it wasn't a 2 door though

hmmm, i wonder if the two are related... UPDATE THE ****ING CAR AND GET YOUR SALES BACK!

yes they are, though i don't think it will catch on really... they also are making a purpose built explorer

Probably because they knew the CV was going away and a lot of police like RWD cars. Still lots of CV's around here though, the local PD (that has a Charger) bought two new CV's while they could still get them.

They don't make a lot of money on cop car sales, and it is much easier to get an older person to buy a car intended for a younger person than vice-versa. Personally I have no interest in buying one.

http://www.mcsmk8.com/92-P75/92-P75.HTM

its basically everything that makes a police interecptor a police interceptor, with an all luxury interior. They started making them in mid 92 and when they switched over to the new grill in 93 they where discontinued.

Code name P75

They are fasinating beasts when you start to dig into them

And the one i was gonna get was maroon and black, i've only ever found white and black ones so i think the one i wanted was even rarer
