On paper, I lost a bunch but in reality I have not lost anything and won't unless I start taking money out now. Hopefully by the time I need it, the value will be back up where it should be.

I lost $300(all money was in stable funds) but a guy at work lost over $50,000!

I am 48 so I am probably older than most guys in here. I have been contributing 8% of my gross pay to my 401k since 1990. So I have seen lots of bumps in the road. There are a couple things to consider. When stock prices are depressed like they are now your 401k contribution buys lots more shares of stock than when stocks are high. And as Warren Buffet points out the stock market invariably always bounces back and actually leaps forward everytime we hit a recession and come out of it. If you are in this for the long haul don't lose any sleep over the money you lose. Its all paper losses and you will recoup it all especially if you are under 40.

Yup, its only on paper and unless you need it now you haven't lost a dime.
